Anubias 'Short and Sharp'

Description

Anubias Short and Sharp is an attractive plant which thrives in all conditions. Like other Anubias-species, it is best planted in a shady spot to minimize algae growth on the leaves. Avoid covering the rhizome when planting to keep it from rotting. It can be easily fastened to driftwood or rock with fishing line, thread, or superglue gel. Herbivorous fish do not eat the very tough and robust leaves.

Natural History

Anubias barteri var. nana was first described by Adolf Engler in 1899 as A. nana. The species was reduced to varietal status in 1979.

Pro Tips

Anubias can be propagated by cutting the rhizome into pieces. New growth on cut pieces will begin at one or more leaf nodes so ensure that each piece has at least 3 nodes ideally with leaves as well.

Type: Rhizomatous
Origin: West Africa
Growth Rate: Slow
Light Demand: Low
CO2: Low

100% satisfied with the service I received. I am new to the hobby and Leo took the time to answer any questions I had and even suggested a few products to help my plants thrive in their new home without harming any live stock.
