    Red Root Floaters

I think all things considered (with COVID-19 affecting shipping of course) these arrived timely (in a weekish), and most of the roots were still alive! Excited to see how they do in my aquarium, and grateful for the sweet personal note written on my package thanking me by name!

The Red Root Floater (Phyllanthus fluitans) is a beautiful floating plant with light green leaves that can turn a vibrant red in the right conditions. Unlike other floating plants, these plant's roots are red in almost any setup making them attractive whether looking from above or below.

Each portion will be in a 2 oz container

Natural History

Red Root Floaters originated in South America. Due to their ease of care, they are now cultivated locally wherever it's cost-effective to do so.

Pro Tips

As with other floating plants, Red Root Floaters will do better when surface agitation is low i.e. leaves stay dry. Obtaining the red colouring in the leaves is not as difficult as it is with other plants and can be achieved with just a compact fluorescent light, without excessive fertilizers, and with no additional CO2. When trimming, first remove any leaves that are completely submerged to keep the plant healthy.

Type: Floating
