Natural History

Red Root Floaters originated in South America. Due to their ease of care, they are now cultivated locally wherever it's cost-effective to do so.

Pro Tips

As with other floating plants, Red Root Floaters will do better when surface agitation is low i.e. leaves stay dry. Obtaining the red colouring in the leaves is not as difficult as it is with other plants and can be achieved with just a compact fluorescent light, without excessive fertilizers, and with no additional CO2. When trimming, first remove any leaves that are completely submerged to keep the plant healthy.
