Blyxa aubertii is an attractive grass-like aquarium plant that develops long, narrow leaves in a dense rosette. Its flowing foliage creates beautiful movement in the aquarium and makes it an excellent choice for adding height and texture to the midground or background of a planted aquascape.
Although its appearance resembles a grass, Blyxa aubertii is actually a stem plant that forms dense clusters of elongated leaves. Compared with the smaller and more compact Blyxa japonica, this species grows considerably larger, making it better suited to medium and large aquariums where it has room to develop.
Under favourable conditions, the normally green foliage may develop attractive bronze to reddish tones, particularly under stronger lighting. Its combination of size, movement, and colour makes it a beautiful alternative to traditional background stem plants.
