Description

Anubias barteri 'Gabon' – Mini Tissue Culture (2")

Anubias barteri 'Gabon' is an attractive, hardy freshwater aquarium plant featuring rich green leaves and the classic rhizome growth habit of Anubias. Its slow-growing, low-maintenance nature makes it an excellent choice for both beginner and experienced aquascapers.

This plant grows best when attached to aquarium driftwood, rocks, or other hardscape materials. Its durable foliage adds natural greenery and texture to planted aquariums without requiring demanding lighting or CO₂ injection.

Supplied in our Mini Tissue Culture (2") format, each cup contains one portion of Anubias, making it a convenient choice for smaller planting projects, nano aquariums, and detailed hardscape arrangements.

Mini Tissue Culture – One Plant Portion Our Mini Tissue Culture comes in a compact 2-inch cup containing one portion of Anubias. Unlike our standard 3-inch tissue culture cups, this smaller format is designed for aquascapers who need a single portion for their aquarium.

How to Prepare & Plant

  1. Remove from Cup: Carefully remove the Anubias from its Mini Tissue Culture container.
  2. Rinse the Gel: Gently wash away the nutrient gel using clean, aquarium-safe water.
  3. Identify the Rhizome: Locate the thick horizontal stem from which the leaves and roots grow.
  4. Attach to Hardscape: Secure the plant to driftwood or aquarium stones using aquarium-safe glue or fine thread.
  5. Allow to Establish: Over time, the roots will naturally grow around and attach to the hardscape.
Important: Do Not Bury the Rhizome Anubias plants grow from a rhizome that must remain exposed to water. Burying the rhizome in aquarium substrate can lead to rot. Attach the plant to rocks or driftwood, or position it so the rhizome remains above the substrate.

Aquascaping with Anubias barteri 'Gabon'

Anubias barteri 'Gabon' is well suited to natural-style aquascapes where durable green foliage and slow-growing plants are preferred. Attach it to driftwood branches, tuck it into rock crevices, or position it alongside other epiphytic plants such as Bucephalandra, Java Fern, and aquatic mosses.

The Mini Tissue Culture format is particularly useful when adding a single Anubias portion to an existing aquascape or creating a smaller planted aquarium layout.

Aquascaper's Tip Anubias grows slowly and generally prefers shaded areas or moderate lighting. Avoid excessive light exposure, which may encourage algae growth on its leaves. Newly introduced tissue culture plants may need time to adapt to submerged aquarium conditions before producing new growth.

Add durable, beautiful greenery to your freshwater aquarium with Anubias barteri 'Gabon' Mini Tissue Culture (2"), available at Aquascaperoom Canada.
