Natural History

Bucephalandra is a genus of flowering plants in the family Araceae. There are 30 species of Bucephalandra which have been discovered in Borneo and have been formally described by S.Y. Wong and P.C. Boyce. Most of the species are found in Borneo. Bucephalandra are usually found growing as dense mats over stones or rocks in streams or rivers in moist tropical forest.

Pro Tips

Just like other Buce species, this one is slow growing and works well in low-light planted aquariums and does best when attached to aquarium driftwood or rocks. This can be done by attaching it with super glue gel or thread. Care should be taken to ensure the rhizome is not damaged or buried to prevent root rot.

Type: Rhizomatous

This Bucephalandra has been ethically sourced and produced by a nursery farm. Bucephalandra is quickly becoming an endangered species where it is native in Borneo. To curb the illegal harvesting and importing of Bucephalandra Aquascaperoom Canada is only sourcing plants from reputable nurseries and growers. Bucephalandra "hunters" and illegal harvesters are quickly contributing to the problem.
