Cryptocoryne crispatula is a fairly large plant that occurs throughout much of Asia. It can grow to a substantial size, so it is an excellent plant for the medium to large aquarium. It is distinctive for its long, thin, ruffled leaves. Due to its wide natural range, it can adapt to a relatively wide variety of water parameters as long as it does not have to endure sudden changes.
Natural History
Cryptocoryne crispatula var. balansae is from Southern Thailand where there are limestone mountains and the water can be very hard.
Pro Tips
Like many other Cryptocorynes it needs to acclimatise before growth starts in earnest. Once established, it will reproduce by sending runners that will grow into new plants.
